A place where the four natural elements mix. Fire, earth, air and water readily become mud and steam.
From 2014 to 2018 I lived in a small city in the Arabian desert where water and earth were scarce and air and fire combined unbearably.
A big transition the from two active natural elements to six active ones.
However, what I learned in the desert was not so much physical knowledge, as that was readily apparent daily, but much more profound. The desert taught me to be still. Meditation through lack of distractions.
Before I departed the desert I completed a large painting titled "The Light Behind the Eyes" a musing about the human condition from my recent experiences living in a modern multicultural city (Abu Dhabi) to dwelling in the desert.
The work also explored thoughts on our initial oneness at birth and our development over time towards division and separation which aligns itself easily with Ai and binary code organisms.
The thought of ourselves being more than the sum of our parts seems to be an old fashioned notion. Human resources and productivity are the way forward for humanity today. If this happens bye bye Human Beings and independent human spirit.
