A new Zealander who has lived in Abu Dhabi for 17 years, Bruce Hill has been exhibiting his work for over 30 years. During this time his work has developed into a distinctive intuitive expressive style.
Hill usually starts his compositions employing impasto effects and then uses his intuition to bring out motifs, shapes and colours to express meanings and emotions personal to him and hopefully of some meaning to the viewers of his work.
Hill has been a keen supporter of fine art in Abu Dhabi and has organized several exhibitions throughout the city. Bruce has lead four art groups in New Zealand and it was his initiative that set up the Abu Dhabi Art Squad. First in 1999 as an amateur grouping and again in 2008 as a group of professional artists. He is also a teacher with over 35 years of teaching experience. He has taught art in Al Ain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi and was the senior art teacher at the German International School in Abu Dhabi from 2009 to 2014. He is currently living and painting in the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi.
